Bakersfield, California - For
over five years, Aegis Medical Systems, Inc. has sought
to raise industry standards and to bring narcotic
treatment programs in line with mainstream medicine.
The Aegis Model of treatment, encompassing: Replacement
Therapy through provision of Schedule II medications
(DEA); individual and group counseling services addressing
various clinical and behavioral conditions; medical
treatment for other disorders and illnesses (in addition
to the addiction); Case Management and follow-up services,
is now being implemented by highly trained physicians,
nurses and counselors throughout California. The professional
level of the Aegis Model has been further enhanced
with the establishment of several new programs, including
the Office of the General Counsel, the Patients Advisory
and Advocacy Group (“PAAG”), the Ombudsman's
office and the “Keys To Recovery” Organization.
"The stigma associated with Narcotic
Replacement Therapy and the discrimination suffered
by our clients can only be stopped if NTP providers
can prove to the government as well as the medical
establishment, general public and most importantly
to addicts, that NTPs are able to support successful
recovery of their patients," stated Udi Barkai,
C.E.O. He further stated: “Focusing on treatment
of addictions without resolving other problems in
our patients’ lifestyles is a formula for failure.”
